Nike says the current Vapor 17 Elite is about 155 g in men’s size 9 FG and up to 20% lighter than the previous generation. Elite uses AtomKnit and FlyLite; Pro uses engineered two-layer Flyknit; Academy uses NikeSkin.
PUMA ULTRA 6
Current ULTRA 6 Ultimate uses SPEEDSYSTEM, FastTrax, PWRTAPE SQD, NanoGrip/OrthoLite underfoot elements and GripControl Pro. PUMA lists the checked Ultimate model as regular-to-narrow.
Surface nuance
Current ULTRA 6 Pro uses FG/AG and adds rounded lateral studs, while the checked ULTRA 6 Ultimate is FG. Mercurial also has dedicated AG, MG, turf and indoor routes. Compare the exact plate, not the family logo.
Neither family is a good “wide-foot default.”
Nike describes Vapor 17 as snug and second-skin-like; PUMA explicitly lists current ULTRA 6 Ultimate as regular-to-narrow. If your forefoot already feels compressed in speed boots, changing to FUTURE 9, Phantom 6 or another roomier shape is usually smarter than simply adding length.
