Current Predator Match Fingersave uses Soft Grip latex with a positive cut and finger-support structure.
Nike Vapor Grip3
Nike describes Grip3 foam wrapping the thumb, forefinger and pinky, combined with ACC palm texture on current Vapor Grip3.
Millimeters matter, but they do not tell the whole story
A manufacturer may specify a 3mm, 3.5mm or 4mm palm, sometimes with additional backing foam. More thickness can change cushioning and ball feel, but compound chemistry, cut and backing construction also matter. Do not rank two gloves solely because one says “4mm.” PUMA's current FUTURE Ultimate NC is a useful verified example of a 4mm premium palm.
Use weather claims as manufacturer specifications—not magic guarantees
adidas says Soft Grip latex on its Predator range is designed for confident play in wet and dry conditions. PUMA describes FUTURE Ultimate NC's Dual Grip 2.0 as an all-weather control compound. Those claims do not mean every wet catch will stick. Water volume, dirt, glove condition and technique still affect control.

Separate jobs when training volume is high
Match glove
Reserve the preferred premium palm for games and key sessions. This preserves the surface that gives you the confidence you paid for.
Training glove
Use a lower-cost or durability-oriented palm for repetition, goalkeeper clinics and abrasive-surface work. The goal is not worse equipment; it is sensible wear allocation.
Heat and embedded dirt are avoidable enemies
Remove debris after use
adidas recommends brushing off grass, mud or turf after training or matches.
Rinse gently
Current adidas care guidance recommends warm—not hot—water and gentle hand washing when needed.
Air dry naturally
Do not use a dryer or place goalkeeper gloves near direct heat.
Store cool and dry
Keep the palms clean and avoid crushing or cooking the latex in a hot equipment bag.
Three claims to ignore
Thickness is only one variable. Compound, cut, backing and intended use matter too.
Premium grip and maximum abrasion durability are not automatically the same objective.
Latex is a wear surface. Rate of wear depends heavily on surface, technique, care and training volume.
Choose palm latex by job: match grip, training durability, weather use and budget per session.
Do not turn proprietary compound names into fake universal scores. Compare the exact glove, exact palm and exact use case.
